ri_01.jpg Testimonies-whiteband.org is the ‘people’s portal’ where GCAP constituents users can log-in to share their stories, photos and other digital content.  The focus is not on economic analysis; but rather, the human, first-hand accounts of experiences with poverty or the struggle to abolish it.

On this website, you are able to register, and post your stories and photos. All submissions will need to be approved by the GCAP web team, following the guiding principles of the terms of use document. The team will notify inappropriate postings, or propose edits and necessary changes.

The overall policy of the website is that all authors should be contactable, unless authors express the desire to keep their contribution anonymous.

Testimonies can be submitted in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.

Tips when writing your testimony:

  • Think about your audience and what you want your testimony to achieve. What will your audience find interesting?  How will your testimony help communicate what GCAP is trying to achieve?
  • Keep it brief!  Ideally a testimony post should be able to be read in three to five minutes.  As a general rule, a few brief posts are better than one long one, depending on the subject matter.
  • Events: Paint a picture of the scene to show others what the event is like include location & date. Try to give a sense of events unfolding.  What has been positive or negative?  Low and high points?  Outcomes?
  • Describe the persons who are taking part and include their quotes.

Tips when uploading your pictures:

Once you've received your user account, just select 'Upload Visuals' from your 'My Menu' navigation in the right column.  You can select a single file or multiple.  All images will be reduced to 600 pixels wide, so please do not upload large files as all images over 1.5 MB will be rejected by the system.  Once uploaded, they will appear in the chosen category and will be linked to your account.  You will not be able to edit or modify the images once uploaded, so please make sure you select the correct images before uploading.
